Dram of the Day ABERFELDY 16 YEAR OLD SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY


Taken from a Single Cask Aged 16 years of only 350 bottles charged from a refill Hogshead Ref :DL 6844

Distilled in June 1994 and bottled December 2010 at 50% by Douglas Laing under their Old Malt Cask Label

The nose is softly perfumed with fruit, honey and dry grist

On the taste buds there is a silky smooth introduction to vanilla, with a background of malt and spice.

The finish has a pleasant Butterscotch with spices, sugar and mild oak

An ideal after dinner whisky to savour

Aberfeldy Scotch Whisky 1989Tasting Notes..
Colour: Pale amber.
Without Water
Nose: Rich, oily - polished leather and sherry wood. Lots of fruit character - fruitcake, figs and dates. Subtle smokiness on the edges.
Palate: Smoky with rich, sherry wood flavours. Delicatefragrant notes with an earthy spicy character.

With Water
Nose: Burnt, fruity aromas combine with treacle and dark chocolate. Some nutty notes also present. The smoky character is never too far away.
Palate: Rich, sherry wood with smoky - wood smoke flavours.Develops with more dried fruit and spices emerging.

Body: Rich and mellow.
Finish: Sherry with smoky edge.
Cask Type: Refill sherry hogsheads.

Aberfeldy 12 year old Single highland Malt Whisky


In Aberfeldy, on the edge of Highland Perthshire, Lies a distillery steeped in tradition, yet only known to connoisseurs and a few fortunate travellers.

The Aberfeldy distillery was established over 100 years ago in 1898, on the south bank of the river Tay. The finest creation of the entrepreneurial Dewar Brothers. Reserved for years as the heart of Dewar’s White label, Limited quantities of Aberfeldy are now available as a single malt.


Aberfeldy combines the fresh spring water of the Pitile Burn with the skill of generations of craftsmen to produce an out standing single malt whisky renowned for its heather honey softness and full body.

At 12 years old Aberfeldy is noted for its heather honey nose, full body and rounded taste. The finish is dry and elegant, with pronounced spicy characteristics and a hint of Seville oranges, Aberfeldy – a work of man and nature
