The distillery is reported to have been established in 1810 (a copper plaque on the building behind the current distillery says :“This building was build in 1810". The upper floor contained the distillery and customs and excise offices and the lower ground floor the original distillery warehouse” However from the archives it apears  that the construction of the distillery was in 1829, when William Paul started  whisky distillation....

Glenburgie Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes...

Initially the nose is grassy and herbal with a citrus character and develops to ripe caramelised bananas.

The mouth coating palate is full bodied and carries an initial dryness followed by a spicy sweetness.

The finish replicates the palate with lingering dry, lightly smoked spices (J)

Glencraig Single Malt Whisky 1975 Gordon & MacPhail 40%

Glencraig Scotch whisky was distilled from the Lomond Stills that were installed at the Glenburgie distillery in 1958 to 1981.

The Glenburgie distillery was founded in 1810 (1829 by William Paul)

During 1958 two Lomond pattern stills where added. These stills, known as Glencraig, they allowed the distillery to produce two different whiskies. The Glenburgie, from the traditional pot stills and the Glencraig from the Lomond stills

Glencraig was named after Mr William Craig, production director of Ballantines at that time. He was actually one of the few men to have a single malt named after him.
Some Glencraig can still be found however it cannot be distilled again as in 1981 the Lomond Stills were replaced by a pair of conventional pot stills.

TASTING NOTE
Colour: Light amber.

Neat
Nose: Aromas to remind you of Christmas. Fruity - lemons
with marzipan aromas and mincemeat pies. Perfumed
and floral notes also present.
Palate: Smoky with oiled wood flavours and sherry notes
develop.

With Water
Nose: Sherry influence now appears, nutty notes with floral
notes also present. Rounding sweetness.
Palate: Bonfire smoke and charred wood flavours with sherry
notes and dried fruits.
Body: Clean
Finish: Rich, fruity notes - sherry.
Cask Type: Refill American Hogsheads.
Whisky Style: Rich and aromatic - to be savored with friends.

TASTING NOTE....

Colour:Golden brown.

Without Water

Nose:Fruity with hints of citrus and mulled fruit, with sweet,creamy elements. Touch of toasted

malt.

Palate:Rich fruit with sweet, oaky notes, some pepperinesswith floral hints.

With WaterNose:Fruit - grapefruit skins with toffee fudge aromas.

Palate:Sherry notes with sweet, toffee flavours.

Body:Medium, complex.

Finish:Short.

Cask Type:First fill Sherry Butts and Refill Sherry Hogsheads.

Whisky Style:A lesser-known Speysider full of character, subtle Sherry influence.
