Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 40%

The unusual name comes from what would now be know as a repetitive strain injury. Before the malt houses became mechanicalised and the malted barley was turned by hand some malt men used to develop a temporary strain known locally as Monkey Shoulder,

Inspired by their craft William Grants have created Monkey Shoulder. Their first ever blended triple malt Scotch whisky, unlike traditional blends Monkey Shoulder uses just three of Speyside’s finest single malts Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kinvinnie and no grain whisky resulting in a richer blended malt of exceptional smoothness.

Colour: Full (old) gold,

Nose: Initially sweet, flowery, light spice with soft leather. Becomes sweeter still with coconut.

With added water, there's chocolate, orange & more vanilla.

Palate: a good balance between citric, vanilla, spiciness & some soft, sultana-like fruits.

With a lovely melted chocolate tone on the finish.

For more information on the distilleries involved in the production please click the distillery names Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kinvinnie.

Glenfiddich 30 year old Single Malt Whisky 40%.

Inspired by William Grant’s success, rival distilleries began to mushroom in the area. Grant’s response was to purchase more land and water rights, and in 1892 this former cattle-herder of the Duke of Fife became master of the Duke of Fife’s castle- Balvenie.

He converted his castle into his second distillery (this time he could afford to hire a workforce). Balvenie remains the only distillery in the Highlands to farm its own barley.

Glenfiddich Single Malt Whisky 15 year old 51%

In September 1886, after 20 years of saving from his annual salary of £100, William Grant could finally realise his dream of creating “the best dram in the valley”.

He bought some second-hand distillery equipment and land near the River Fiddich in Speyside- the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Here Grant, with his wife, seven sons, two daughters and one stonemason built the Glenfiddich distillery with their bare hands. The entire project cost £800.

On Christmas day in 1887, William Grant and Son’s Glenfiddich Pure Malt Whisky ran from the stills.

Speyside region, Dufftown district.
