Sheep Dip Blended Malt Scotch Whisky

Sheep Dip’s Unusual Name
Came about because British farmers have long referred to whisky as Sheep Dip. There was a time when farmers distilled their own “home-made” whisky and in order to avoid paying taxes to the revenue man hid the whisky in barrels marked “Sheep Dip”.

Farmers' merchants continued this tradition by entering cases of whisky as “Sheep dip” on farmers' bills and so “pulling the wool” over the farmers wives eyes

Sheep Dip despite its iconoclastic name is a genuinely great whisky.

Sheep Dip Blended Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Note:

Colour: Rich, golden copper highlights.

Nose: Delicate and refined. Soft sensual floral notes arise in perfect harmony supported by an attractive array of complex fruit flavours. Melon, pear and orange with a hint of almonds conclude this profusion of charming nuances.

Taste: Finesse and elegance gives way to a majestic assertion of pure malty flavours drawn from the four distilling regions of Scotland. Each area forges and makes its own inimitable contribution to this outstanding pure malt - the main accent being expressed from the Highlands and Speyside Valleys.
However a subtle hint of Islay can be detected on the after taste as it slowly ebbs into a classic, pleasing finish.

Described in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2006 as “A big, sweet, chunky, gawky, grain-lashed but hugely enjoyable blend."

Eades Double Malt Whisky

The name Double Malt comes from the two single malts that are selected for their classic characteristics and complementary natures to make each expression of Eades. Some of these malts are rarely found in the U.S. All represent the finest flavor profile of each region.

First, the two malts are finished separately in fine wine casks, such as Chateau Lafitte, Grenache and Zinfandel. Then, they are paired to create the perfect flavor profile of their region giving us Eades Double Malt.

Pràban na Linne Limited is the only whisky company with its headquarters on the Isle of Skye, where Gaelic is still widely spoken. As the Gaels originally invented whisky, the company feels their whiskies are genuinely authentic.

Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 40%

The unusual name comes from what would now be know as a repetitive strain injury. Before the malt houses became mechanicalised and the malted barley was turned by hand some malt men used to develop a temporary strain known locally as Monkey Shoulder, 

 

Inspired by their craft William Grants have created Monkey Shoulder. Their first ever blended triple malt Scotch whisky, unlike traditional blends Monkey Shoulder uses just three of Speyside’s finest single malts Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kinvinnie and no grain whisky resulting in a richer blended malt of exceptional smoothness.

Colour: Full (old) gold, 

Nose: Initially sweet, flowery, light spice with soft leather. Becomes sweeter still with coconut. 

With added water, there's chocolate, orange & more vanilla.

Palate: a good balance between citric, vanilla, spiciness & some soft, sultana-like fruits.

With a lovely melted chocolate tone on the finish.

Starting with an Idea on a hillside followed by a spirited conversation one night David “Robbo” a “master” distiller and the brothers Jon and Mark both “master” whisky lovers agreed that their world needed a whisky that tasted exactly the way the liked and cut out all the waffle that always seemed to go along with whisky.
