Port Ellen Single Malt Whisky 25 year old Provenance 46%,

Islay region. Port Ellen Scotch Whisky. South shore district.
Provenance bottling by Douglas Laing.
A bottling from one Sherry Butt DMG Ref: 4717.

Port Ellen Single Malt Whisky Tasting notes:-

The nose opens with a clean maritime style plus spices and honey carrying a bandage and medicinal quality. Initial saltiness on the palate runs to interestingly dry bonfire ashes.

The finish is long reminiscent of "Arbroath Smokies" with soft chewed leather, tar and creosote lingering on. (J)

Port Ellen Single Malt Whisky 26 year old 1982 50%

The distillery was mothballed in the great whisky cull of 1983.

The site is now warehousing for DCLs' other Islay distilleries. It is also home of a large malt plant, which supplies the remaining distilleries on the island, thanks to an official agreement signed to secure employment for the island’s workforce.

Port Ellen has been closed for 24 years so bottlings of this rare and Iconic Islay malt are becoming very short in supply.

Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled by Douglas Laing in 2008.
Charged from a Refill Butt DL REF:4808.
731 bottles in total.

Tasting notes :-

Nose : Absolute-head-on Islay...dry, phenolic & smokey.

Palate : Sweetly peated now, chewy with soft leather & smoke.

Finish: Carries iodine, pepper, ash, more leather. (F)
